How to Create a Hi-Tech Start-up :
This talk focuses on motivating people to review their ideas, and shows them how to determine if the proposed technology/product will meet the commercial criteria needed for a successful start-ups The talk also looks at analysing the commercial and technical risks associated with an idea. Suggestions on how to cross the threshold and take the first
and most important steps in turning the idea from idea to reality will be discussed, followed by how to ensure some financial security in what is generally perceived  as a un- stable scenario.

How to Spin a Start-up out of a University:
This talk will be similar to the ‘How to create a Hi-Tech Start-up’ talk described above but it will be focused on researchers and academics with a particular emphasis on the issues associated with the spin-out process (IP, equity, the jump or remain in academia decision, future IP, etc..)

Possible Audience: Start your own business/entrepreneur courses or seminars in academic and research institutes, Lectures to Technical Undergraduates on start-your own business

How to Encourage Hi-Tech Entrepreneurs:
This talk is aimed at encouraging  dormant entrepreneurs within our engineering and hi-tech community to encourage them to seriously consider  doing something about that ‘great idea’ they have.

Possible Audience: Start your own business/entrepreneur courses or seminars in academic and research institutes, Lectures to Technical Undergraduates on start-your own business , Talks to groups in hi-tech multinationals (possibly in redundancy situations), Talks to groups in government and state support agencies.

Why does Ireland not have the same volume of Hi-Tech Start-ups as Israel?
A comparison of Israel's and Ireland’s approach to hi-tech entrepreneurship and some suggestions on why Israel has been so successful, i.e. they are one of the most successful small countries in the world.
Possible Audience: Talks to groups in government and state support agencies. Talks to industry and thought leaders

How to Improve Ireland’s Hi-tech Entrepreneurship:
Joe’s many years experience in Hi-tech Entrepreneurship has given him a great insight into how the support and environment can be improved to make Ireland more successful in its output of hi-tech start-ups. Some of his suggestions are simple and some are radical – but all worth considering.

This course will touch all the key topics relating to creating a hi-tech start-up, starting with motivation, evaluating the commercial potential of the idea, evaluating the technical potential of the idea, creating the company, IP protection, team building, funding the company and funding yourself.

Create your own to Hi-Tech Spin Out :
This course will be similar to the ‘Start your own Hi-Tech Business’ course described above but it will also focus on topics such as IP, equity, the jump or remain in academia decision, future IP, licensing agreements, consultancy agreements, etc..
Possible Audience: Start your own business/entrepreneur courses in academic and research institutes.
